Two dozen Mays Business School students have been spending their winter break learning first-hand how to do business in India. Led by Dr. Julian Gaspar, Executive Director for the Center for International Business Studies and Clinical Professor of Finance, the group has been visiting Bangalore, Mysore and New Delhi during their two-week trip. The students visited the Taj Mahal on New Year’s Eve and made a stop at the Humayun Tomb. Additionally, the students spent a day at the SDM Institute for Management Development, a premier business school in Bangalore and an exchange partner of Mays Business School.
One highlight of the trip for participant Viviana Hernandez ’15 (MKTG) was visiting an elementary school and delivering school supplies donated by Texas A&M University. She explained: “The kids were beyond excited to have us around for the day!” Jonathan Bokemeyer ’14 (ACCT/PPA) explains “Delhi has completely changed my perspective on the quality of life abroad and the environment in which business is able to operate. I have found that India is home to a unique and dynamic business environment that has complex requirements, regulations and policies that affect both domestic and international business.”

The application period for next winter’s trip will open in April 2014. Participants must be a business major with a classification of U2 or above when the program occurs and a minimum 2.5 GPA.
