Twenty-four student-led AI ventures have advanced to the second round of Mays Business School’s “Building a Better Future Through Business and AI” National Undergraduate Pitch Competition, reflecting the growing role of AI in business innovation.

The competition, hosted by Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School in collaboration with the College of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Architecture, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Texas A&M Innovation, called for business proposals by undergraduate student founders that leveraged AI to address real-world challenges.

Students from 37 universities across the nation submitted 103 proposals in the first round. Proposals were evaluated on their potential innovation, market potential, feasibility, and impact. The 24 semifinalist companies pitched solutions that could transform key industries, including healthcare, supply chains, aviation, agriculture, education, and defense, demonstrating how students are using AI to tackle some of the world’s toughest problems. The advancing pitches include an artificial emission tracker for holistic environmental regulation, an AI-powered active shooter detection and response platform, and a digital assistant that provides step-by-step guidance to help less tech-savvy individuals confidently navigate technology.

In the virtual pitch round on July 1, the teams will present their business proposals to a panel of AI experts, including Invincible AI founder Jesse Martinez and Golden Section’s executive director, Andrew Smith. The judges will select 12 companies to pitch in-person in College Station on Sept. 12-13. Winners will receive cash prizes, including $100,000 for first place, $50,000 for second place, and $25,000 for third place, and can choose to be paired with an entrepreneur mentor from Texas A&M for one year.
